Better Late Than Never BEARIZONA!!!

Ok, sorry it has taken me so long. I have been fighting a Fibromyalgia flare up and a massive sinus infection. I know, I know, you don't want to hear my medical excuses but I felt like putting them in here anyway. Can you believe we are just days away from Christmas???
They don't commercialize Christmas in Arizona like they do in the midwest.  I wonder if it is because it isn't as cold or because they don't get the snow or exactly what the reason is but I have to say it is really nice.
We have been going to the most AWESOME church and studying the book of Luke. It is going to be hard to leave at the end of March.

Ok,,,,,and now for Bearizona.

This is a place about two hours north of us.  It has a variety of animals but the main attraction, of course, are the bears.

This big horned sheep didn't want us to go by on the road.

A baby big horned sheep

Entering the bear area

Some of the bears were shy.

This bear had already picked out his hybernation spot.

OOps I think we woke him up.

Yep he is awake alright.

We were instructed to keep our car windows up.  If it wasn't for that, I could have opened my car door and reached over and touched this bear on the nose.  Yes, we were that close.  Of course, my husband has override on the door locks and he never would have let me open the door. Turns out I am much more adventurous than he is.

Raccoons

Wolves

This goat was so funny.  He was separated from all the other goats in the petting Barnyard.  I am assuming he had misbehaved.  Anyway, noticed that he has his head up against the tree.  It looks like he is in time out.  He did move to the fence while we were there but he placed his head against the fence in the same way.  It was hilarious.  The goat put himself in timeout.

Very odd looking chicken but I couldn't find a sign anywhere that said what kind it was.

Fox that would not look at the camera!!

Got a picture of a bear looking through the viewing area and through a wooden fence.

The bear was scratching his back on the tree.

Bear up a tree!

Not so easy going down!

Burrows

American Bison

Pot Bellied Pig

Interesting bird but again could not find out what it was.

On our way out bears walking along side us.

We had such a great time.  If you ever get this way it is definitely worth checking out.  Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.

Wow.....has it been that long????

Yes, I guess it has been that long.  Ok, I am not going to write alot but I do have alot of pictures.  The first set of pictures are from our day trip to Out of Africa.  It is a WONDERFUL place that was started by an individual family that was trying to rescue injured animals in the wild.  They are privately owned and operated and they are doing great things.  All the animals that live there have injuries that prevent them from returning to the wild.  Their habitats are set up as closely to the wild as possible.  They roam very freely and we were able to feed some of them, such as the giraffes, carrots straight from our mouths.  I should say, that I did not participate in this activity.  My son, however, was more than willing to do this.  Our camera died that day and some of these pictures are on my husband's cell phone and will be posted later.  I will post what I have now.

The next set of pictures is from our trip to a Navajo 35th Annual Celebration of Artists and Craftsmen and Museum.

Then yesterday we visited Bearizona.  It is about three and a half hours north of us and it was worth every mile we traveled and every penny we spent.  I hope the pictures speak for themselves.

Tomorrow I will try to post pictures from our trip to Bearizona and pics of where Joshua likes to go hiking.

Notice the kid in the hat.  Recognize him????  Hard to when you can't see his face but you know him.

I love this picture!!!!

Feeding time

Ready to eat!

This is a picture I shot with my cell phone just yesterday of some snow covered mountains on our way back from Bearizona.  It doesn't do them justice but for a cell phone picture it isn't bad.

Hear are the pictures I have from the Navajo event and museum.

I apologize. My husband king of the sideways pictures and I don't know how to change it. Ugh.

Hope you enjoy these pictures!! If you have having problems becoming a member please let me know. I see Trisha and Jane and I may just start emailling pics as I get them and stop doing the blog if there are only a couple people viewing. Please let me know.
